Forgiveness is not about letting the other person get away with something. It's about allowing the love of God to overshadow the hurt and betrayal.
When we do that, we are handling the situation the way that God has instructed us to. It's not always easy, but God reminds us in his word that
we are forgiven for our sins as we forgive others.
Forgiveness Scriptures:
James 5:15 - and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins,
he will be forgiven.
Matthew 6:14-15--For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive
others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 18:21-22-- Then Peter came up and said to him,
Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times,
but seventy times seven.
Luke 23:34--And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments.
Colossians 3:12-13--Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
John 1:9--If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
