Paraphrased story of Jesus' Birth

PARAPHRASED BIRTH OF JESUS STORY:

Read the story in -Mathew 1 and Luke 2.

There was a carpenter, by the name of Joseph, who lived in the city of Nazareth.

One night, an angel of the Lord spoke to Joseph in a dream, telling him that he must take Mary as his wife.

The angel also told Joseph that the child Mary was carrying was from the Holy Spirit and that the baby should be named Jesus.

The angel told Joseph that Jesus was the savior and would save people from their sins.

During the time of the census, Mary and Joseph had to return to Bethlehem, their hometown. Traveling through the hills and across the rivers was very was sensitive because Mary was due to have the baby at any time.

Once they reached Bethlehem, they searched for a place to stay. There was a small Inn, however, because of the census crowds, there were no rooms available. Mary alerted Joseph that she was in labor, so they had to make a quick decision. The Innkeeper offered the stable to them for shelter.

Joseph and Mary accepted because they were desperate. There in the stable among the animals, baby Jesus was born.

Mary bundled baby Jesus in blankets to keep him warm, and laid him in a trough.

That same night, as shepherds guarded their sheep, they saw a bright light. An angel appeared before them.

The shepherds were afraid.

The angels told them, not to be afraid. "I've come to give you good news. Christ the Lord has been born in Bethlehem. You will find him wrapped in swaddling clothing, lying in a manger."

The shepherds agreed to go and see the Baby Jesus. When they found Mary, Joseph, and the baby, they were very glad.
