Scripture Prayer

Biblical scriptures about Prayer and Praying

SCRIPTURE PRAYER READING:

"pray without ceasing" 1 Thess. 5:17

My favorite prayer reading is 1 Thessalonian 5:17. It's a reminder to always pray, no matter what.

It's not enough to pray when something is wrong, or when something is exceptionally right, for that matter.

We should always pray, all day everyday. Silently or aloud. God is always with us, so we can talk to every minute of every hour if we like.

Enjoy the scripture prayer readings. And remember, don't stop praying!

  • 1 Samuel12:23--"Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; butI will teach you the good and the right way."
  • Matthew 6:6--"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
  • Mark 6:46--"And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray."
  • Luke 11:1--"Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
  • Luke 18:1--"Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart."
  • John 17:9--"I pray for them, I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are yours."
  • Romans 8:26--"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weakness. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."
  • James 5:13--"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing Psalms."
  • Acts 6:4--"but we will give ourselves continually to prayerand to the ministry of the word."
  • Romans 12:12--"rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer"
  • 1 Corinthians 7:5--"Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer;and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control."
  • Philippians 4:6--"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."
  • James 5:15--"And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up." 'And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."
