The Wisdom of God

Why should we seek it? And what happens when we do?

Seeking the Wisdom of God

God’s
desire is that we seek wisdom and knowledge. “Receive my instruction and not silver. And knowledge rather than choice gold; for wisdom is better than rubies.” Proverbs 8:10

What makes wisdom so important? Wisdom opens the door to honor, righteousness, and whole-life prosperity. “Riches and honor are with me. Enduring riches and righteousness.” Proverbs 8:18

When we seek wisdom, we seek the will of God. Its God will that we have blessed lives. “That I may cause those who love me (wisdom) to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasures.” Proverbs 8:21

Treasure refers to more than just money and wealth. Whatever is dear to your heart is a treasure.” For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

Perhaps your treasure is your family. When you seek Godly wisdom, you will invite God to inhabit and bless your family life. And to guide you matters and decisions concerning your family life.

Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety or depression. Your treasure, then would be peace of mind. God is a God of peace. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3

God’s word is truth and wisdom. When you seek the wisdom of God, you get so much more in return. Solomon prayed for wisdom and God blessed him with wisdom and more wealth than any many could imagine.

"7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” 11 God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches, possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.” 2 Chronicles 1

Today, we can seek wisdom in many ways. We can pray for wisdom. We can read Christian books. We can even consult wise counsel.

But however we seek, we must do it diligently and know that God will bless us so that we find it easily. Don't be afraid to admit that you don't have all the answers. Ask God. He wants you to come to Him for wisdom and understanding.

It doesn't matter how large or small the problem is. Whether it's finding a new job; raising your child; or dealing with your relationship. Just ask Him and trust that He will guide you.

God will gladly give you the wisdom that you desire concerning the treasures of your heart. And once you receive the wisdom you seek, your life will be richly blessed.
